How Training Time and Cost Are Worked Out

This Evony troop calculator starts from the two numbers your own training screen already shows for a single troop — the time and the resource cost — and scales them to whatever quantity you are queueing. That is deliberate: those per-troop figures already include your keep level, your research and every buff on your account, so nothing has to be guessed or looked up in a table that goes stale after an update.

The default the calculator opens with is worth reading as an example in itself: 100,000 troops at 5 seconds each with a +100% training-speed bonus becomes 2.5 seconds each, which is 2d 21h 26m 40s of continuous training and a rate of 34,560 troops a day from one queue.

Your Speed Bonus Divides, It Does Not Subtract

A +100% training-speed bonus does not remove 100% of the time — that would leave nothing. It divides the base time by 2. A +200% bonus divides by 3, +300% by 4, and so on. Reading it as a division is what makes the next part obvious, and it is the single most misunderstood number in troop planning.

The second +100% is worth exactly one third of the first. Going 0 → +100% saves 2d 21h. Going +100% → +200% saves only 23h — a third as much. The next step is a sixth, then a tenth. This is not a nerf or a soft cap; it falls straight out of dividing by (1 + bonus), and it is exactly why a player at +400% barely notices a buff that transforms a player at +50%.

Speed Never Reduces What the Army Costs

Resources are a flat multiplication: quantity × cost per troop. The speed bonus is nowhere in that line, and neither are speed-ups. Train 100,000 troops at 12 food each and you spend 1,200,000 food whether your bonus is +0% or +400% — the calculator reports the identical total both times.

A bigger speed bonus lets you spend your resources faster, not spend fewer of them. Players who stack training speed and then run dry mid-queue have usually planned the clock and not the warehouse. Enter your per-troop costs as well as the time — the result panel totals food separately from lumber, stone and ore, because food is almost always the one that runs out first.

Published troop tables are the wrong input for this calculation, because two accounts at the same keep level rarely pay the same. Research, buffs, gear and the barracks themselves all move the per-troop time and cost before you ever see it. The number shown on your own training screen for one troop of the tier you are building is already the answer to all of that.

  1. Open the troop-training screen for the tier you want

    Set the quantity to 1 so the game shows you the clean per-troop figures rather than a batch total.

  2. Note the time and the resource cost for that single troop

    These already include everything your account carries. Copy them exactly — the calculator’s accuracy is entirely inherited from this step.

  3. Note your training-speed bonus separately

    Enter it as the percentage the game reports. If the per-troop time you copied already has your speed bonus applied, leave the bonus field at 0 so it is not counted twice — double-counting it is the most common way to get an impossibly short answer.

How to Use the Evony Troop Calculator

  1. Enter how many troops you want

    The full batch you intend to queue, not one march’s worth. This is the only field the calculator cannot work without.

  2. Enter the time for one troop and pick its unit

    Seconds or minutes, whichever the game showed you. High-tier troops are often quoted in minutes, low tiers in seconds, and the picker beside the box means you never have to convert.

  3. Add your training-speed bonus

    As a percentage. The result card shows both the boosted time and the unboosted one, so you can see exactly what the bonus is buying you on this specific batch.

  4. Fill in the resource costs per troop

    Food, lumber, stone, ore and gold. These are optional — leave them blank if you only want the clock — but they are what turns a training plan into a resource plan.

  5. Read the rate, not just the total

    The troops-per-day figure is the number worth remembering, because it is independent of batch size. Once you know you train 34,560 a day, any future batch is one division away.

The last two rows are the ones that reset expectations. A high-tier troop at 30 seconds base takes over two weeks for 100,000 even with a +100% bonus, and quadrupling that bonus to +300% still leaves you at 8 days. Tier costs time far more steeply than it costs resources, which is why large high-tier armies are built continuously in the background rather than queued the week before a war.

Training time only matters against what you are training for. Divide the per-troop time by (1 + your speed bonus), then multiply by the quantity. At 5 seconds each with a +100% bonus, each troop takes 2.5 seconds, so 100,000 troops take 250,000 seconds — 2d 21h 26m 40s, or 34,560 troops a day from one queue. Read the per-troop time from your own training screen, because it already includes your research and buffs.

Yes — but because it divides by 2, not because it subtracts 100%. +200% divides by 3 and +300% divides by 4. That distinction matters: the bonus can never reach zero time no matter how high it goes, and each additional step is worth less than the one before it.

This figure does not depend on batch size, which makes it the most useful number on the result card — once you know your daily rate, any batch you plan later is a single division.

Because tier raises the per-troop time steeply. A 30-second troop takes 17d 8h 40m for 100,000 at a +100% bonus, against 2d 21h for a 5-second troop at the same bonus — six times longer, for the same count. Raising the bonus to +300% brings it down to 8d 16h, but no realistic bonus makes a high-tier army quick. Build them continuously rather than on demand.

Either, as long as you do not do both. If the time you read from the game already reflects your training-speed bonus, enter it and leave the bonus field at 0. If it is the unboosted base time, enter the bonus separately. Entering a boosted time and the bonus as well applies it twice and produces an impossibly short answer.

The formulas do, because they are arithmetic on whatever the game reports.
